Okay, so I do realise that so far a lot of these ‘Self Care Saturday’ posts have been taken up by bath bombs. Any why wouldn’t they? Bath bombs are great! But another aspect of self care for me, is looking after myself during my more stressful moments.

Ways that I am able to do this is by trying to relax with a cup of tea. It doesn’t necessarily have to be the tea itself that helps, but the tea making process – namely being able to get out of the moment, to step away, and have a cuppa.

T2: Gorgeous Geisha

With the changing of the seasons and the emergence of the striking Australian heat, the types of tea I prefer to drink tend to change. Where before the cold could inspire me to enjoy rich and strong teas, the summer heat instead sees me turn to the cooler and lighter teas. In light of that, I will be looking at T2‘s green tea, ‘Gorgeous Geisha.’ The T2 website describes the tea as:

Green tea with strawberries drizzled in cream is a big and bold sweet sensation. Juicy fruit blended with the herbaceous grassy aroma of sencha is intriguing, assertive and very moreish. Delicious hot and stunning iced as a summer treat. It’s easy to see why this is our most popular flavoured green – it’s simply gorgeous!

product_756The first thing you notice about ‘Gorgeous Geisha’ is the striking aroma. The tea smells of strawberries with a soft yet fresh floral scent. Since unpacking my teabags (which ‘Gorgeous Geisha’ and a number of other teas can be purchased in tea bag form) I have often found myself simply stopping and smelling the tea.

‘Gorgeous Geisha’ differs from other green teas in both its aroma and flavour. Where green tea generally can have quite a strong taste, ‘Gorgeous Geisha’ is one that offers up a sweet, light flavour. Coupled with a little bit of sugar, the tea is an absolute delight.

You can enjoy the tea either served chilled or hot. The serving suggestion for the tea is to not brew it at 100ºC, rather at 80ºC. This holds true for green tea in general as no matter the flavour or quality of the green tea, if over boiled the taste will be a bitter and astringent one.

Often times I have found myself replacing my morning coffee with T2’s ‘Gorgeous Geisha.’ The sweet flavour and enticing scent of the tea is one that draws me in on a hot day. If you’ve never been a fan of green tea I would definitely suggest trying a flavoured green tea to ease you into the taste. You can look no further than ‘Gorgeous Geisha’ for the perfect first time, green tea try.
