Blurb: Zandy Lynch never planned on going to grad school a virgin. So when her professor father finds her a job abroad as a research assistant the summer before she starts her master’s program, she sees her chance. She’s got one night in London to lose her V-card to a Mr. Darcy lookalike before she has to join some ancient professor in the country.

Oliver Graeme is not looking forward to having some American co-ed hovering around while he’s trying to work, but he owes her father the favor, and besides, his office is an untidy mess of uncatalogued research. He needs the help. Still, he decides to take the edge off his frustration while visiting a colleague in London, and winds up having the sexiest, sweetest night of his life with a stranger, who vanishes in the morning without a trace…

To Zandy’s shock when she arrives at Professor Graeme’s house a day later, the door isn’t opened by a fussy old scholar, but by the wild, passionate man she met in London. Cold and reserved by day, Oliver is ferociously greedy with her at night, and it’s not long before Zandy finds herself falling for both versions of him—the aloof professor and the generous, rough lover. The trouble is that summer only lasts so long, and Zandy already has a plane ticket waiting to take her home…

Misadventures is a romantic series of spicy standalone novels, each written or co-written by some of the best names in romance. The stories are scandalous, refreshing, and, of course, incredibly sexy. They’re the perfect bedside read, a ‘quick blush’ for the reader who loves a page-turning romance.I

Series: Misadventures #15

Genre: Romance. Erotica. M/F Romance.

Read as an: Paperback.

My Thoughts

As I mentioned previously in my TBR Pile post, I have seen the Misadventure books around for a while now but decided to give one a read after reading the blurb of Sierra Simone’s new book, A Lesson in Thorns. Misadventures with a Professor was a great and fun read. The story follows Amanda who is an American visiting England to sort out the library and research materials of her Fathers Professor friend. Enter Oliver, who at the start of the book (spoiler alert) helps Amanda lose her virginity.

The rest of the novel is of how Amanda (or Zandy) and Oliver navigate their relationship and admit to what each other want – not just their kinks but each other. I absolutely loved the little moments where you had the two cultures clash. The absolute horror Oliver had when Amanda made a cup of tea in the microwave was one I loved.

Smut Level

Misadventures with a Professor was very kink friendly. The pair played up the whole Student/Professor role play and the novel also featured a lot of spanking. While there was a backstory of Oliver being kink shamed in a previous relationship, the book is very open with the twos wants and desires.

I enjoyed the book so much, I’ve tracked down the first book of the Misadventure series and if I enjoy that, may give the whole series a read ❤

My Thoughts

If you’ve been paying attention to my previous posts, I am a big Megan Derr fan. I am also a big fan of the publisher Nine Star Press , so when I saw both combined I knew immediately that I had to read this book.

I was lucky enough that when I requested that my library purchase an eBook copy, I was promptly able to read this wonderful book. (I am currently waiting for approval for the rest of the series to be purchased!) So hopefully it won’t take too long because I am love with the world of Waiting for You!

As always Derr is a master of effortless world building with the politically charged environment surrounding Shanna being presented to us in a quick and easy to grasp manner. In no time at all I was rooting for all three of the characters and found myself so thoroughly engaged in the emotional story between Shanna, Kallaar, and Ahmla.

Also honestly, who could read Waiting for You and not fall in love with Kallaar?

Smut Level

As you can tell from my above thoughts on the book and the fact that the book is a polyamorous romance novel, Waiting for You does indeed feature scenes between all three characters. While not the smuttiest book out there, the action between the three characters is not only incredibly sexually charged but it is emotional.

The scenes do play out at moments of emotional revelations and there is no sexual shame felt between the three as they explore themselves and their new relationship. Shanna is quite open in her imaginings and desire for more than one partner throughout the novel.

So pretty much loved the book everything about this book ❤❤❤

Drawn deep into an underworld of high stakes gambling and reckless overindulgence, she soon discovers that in order to win the love of a ruthless scoundrel, she will have to play the game…and give in to the pleasure of falling from grace.

Length: 382 pages.

Series: Fallen Ladies #1.

Genre: Romance. Historical.

Read as an: Paperback.

My Thoughts

I really enjoyed this book. The main character, Emma, is quite intelligent and was allowed to demonstrate this in an easy and respectful way. The romantic lead, Roderick, had a very accepting and almost nonchalant attitude towards Emma and her ‘scandalous’ behaviour.

The book is part of a trilogy that follows Emma’s two sisters, however I don’t think I will read these as the blurbs and characters didn’t grab my attention. Luck is No Lady was a sweet and smile inducing novel, I would really recommend this book for anyone looking for a good regency read.

Smut Level

Decent. I really liked the back and forth between these characters and the physical scenes were very focused on Emma.

My Thoughts

I often hesitate to write about yaoi as it has so many problematic issues surrounding it. Just to name a few there are often issues with non-consent, the books often present unrealistic relationships and there is a distinct lack of understanding on how the human body works. To be fair, the same could be said for a large number of m/m romance novels.

My Thoughts

I have wanted to read a Katie Ruggle book for a while now. If you’re new to the blog you may not be aware of how much I adore Ruggle’s pen name Katie Allen. Ruggle has an almost different style, the Allen books are more light hearted with their romances but I found with Run to Ground the book was more intense. Less lighthearted with the romance between the two main characters and more focused on the suspenseful and action packed plot.

My Thoughts

I absolutely love this book. The book was originally published in 2008 by the now defunct Ellora’s Cave. I read the book initially when it was released years ago, but as soon as I found out the company was closing, I snapped up this book as a paperback. Which was such a good idea, as I cannot find it anywhere online.

I think this book started me on reading the m/m and LGTBQI romance genre and since then I have not looked back. I loved the story, and the characters of this book really jump off the page. Beth had me smiling, Harry had me swooning, and Ky had me falling in love.

I would really recommend this book or any of Katie Allen’s books. If you’re interested in finding more of her work, Allen is currently writing under both her own name and Katie Rundle.

Smut Level

Oh. My. God. This book, while not full of a lot of sex scenes, was so intense! The love triangle in this book wasn’t so much a rivalry rather a polyamorous relationship. On goodreads the books has a readers advisory that states: ‘This book contains smoking-hot scenes of ménage and M/M sex.” So yeah it was smutty.

The novel starts off with the relationship between Beth and Harry which features a lot of passionate scenes and even an anal scene. The story then extends to include Ky, where the scenes develop into threesomes which includes the men loving each other as well.

So to conclude, this books smut level was intense, not so much in the amount but in the intensity and variety! Loved it ❤

Blurb: It’s typical of video game programmer Josiah Simmons to be the last one on the plane on the way to the biggest meeting of his career. Though he’s (mostly) coping with his ADHD, he can’t handle another distraction. But he also can’t ignore his rugged seatmate—especially once he learns the military man’s a fan of his game.

Ryan Orson refuses to let his severe injuries pause his career as a navy SEAL. He’s got hours of grueling physical therapy ahead of him, and no time for anything that might get in the way of his return to active duty. But that doesn’t mean he’s above a little first-class flirtation with geeky-cute Josiah.

When a delay strands the pair in St. Louis, they agree to share a hotel room and a night of gaming. Neither expects their new connection to move to the next level in the light of day. Opposites may attract, but is this game over before it’s even begun?

Length: 245 pages.

Series: #gaymers #3

Genre: QUILTBAG. M/M Romance.

Read as an: eBook.

My Thoughts: Reeeally loved this couple. I loved the dynamic between them and how they both viewed the relationship – it added an emotional depth to the pair. The unstable ground between them mixed with their easy compatibility was so great. Especially when you combined this with the emotional journeys the characters were on, Josiah and his leadership issues and Ryan with his rehabilitation.

I knew while I was reading this that it was not only amazing but that it was one of my favourites for the year ❤

Smut Level: Lots of off-screen action and relationship development but I enjoyed this aspect of the novel. The sexy scenes were great and really emotionally charged.

I loved seeing the emotional development of Ryan throughout these scenes as he learned that he can still be the same sexual being he was previous to his accident.

Blurb: Roomies with benefits and the potential for so much more in Marriage Lessons by Katie Ruggle, writing as Katie Allen

Falling for your boss—no matter how fast he makes your pulse race—is such a cliché. But it’s one Annabelle Shay can’t seem to avoid. Gallery owner Louis Dumont is stupid hot. Plus, he’s sweet, sensitive and a brilliant artist. But he’s also oblivious. Which is good because Annabelle loves her job too much to risk it.

Louis hasn’t been with a woman since he was wounded in Afghanistan, remaining guarded about his body and his heart. But Annabelle is different. She keeps him grounded. Which is why protecting her—first pretending to be her husband to ward off unwanted attention, then inviting her to move in after her landlord kicks her out—feels so natural, even if it invites rampant temptation.

Try as Annabelle might, there are some desires you simply can’t shake. Louis repeatedly joke-asking her to marry him isn’t helping, especially when their unbearable attraction upgrades them to roomies with benefits. But Louis is still keeping pieces of his past to himself, leaving Annabelle to wonder if he’ll ever truly be vulnerable with her—or if she stands to lose everything.

Length: 221 pages.

Series: Off Guard #3.

Genre: Romance. Erotica.

Read as an: eBook.

My Thoughts: Marriage Lessons is a quick and enjoyable read. I started this book in the afternoon and had demolished it by the evening. The two main characters, Annabelle and Louis are charismatic, lovable, and fun to read together. Featuring the characters both met and mentioned from Baking Lessons, the book follows the story of Annabelle Shay as she settles into her new job with renowned artist Louis Dumont.

Blurb: A free-spirited baker becomes the best kind of mess in her uptight landlord’s perfectly ordered life in this next installment of the Off Guard series by Katie Ruggle writing as Katie Allen

Leah loves everything about her bakery—the heavenly smells, the satisfaction of feeding people and, of course, unlimited cookies. The only thing she doesn’t like is her uptight landlord’s daily visits. Sure, the man’s drop-dead gorgeous, but for someone with an insatiable taste for treats, he’s anything but sweet.

Army vet Hamilton knows he comes off as rigid. He just can’t seem to bite his tongue around Leah—he might be a virgin but he can imagine a dozen better ways to use his mouth. But when the woman he considers absolutely delicious is threatened by an unwanted admirer, Hamilton intervenes, captivating Leah with his softer side.

Now the man Leah couldn’t avoid is swiftly becoming the one she can’t resist. Unrelenting temptation soon overwhelms them both, leading to an indulgence in everything they’ve been craving. But when past actions bring a fallout neither imagined, they’ll be forced to confront whether their affair is half-baked—or something to savor forever.
