Hopeful Reads of 2020 Check in

Since it is officially half way through the year, I thought I would do a check in post to see how I am going with my Hopeful Reads of 2020.

So far I have crossed off:

  • Brazen and the Beast by Sarah MacLean
  • Captain Underpants and the Perilous Plot of Professor Poopypants by Dav Pilkey
  • A Deceptive Alliance by Sydney Blackburn
  • Heartstopper Volume 3 by Alice Oseman
  • Just for Show by Jae and
  • Tit for Tat by R.Cooper.

In addition to this I am half way through Mr. Know-It-All by John Waters – since I’m not the biggest fan of biographies, I think this one will take me the longest to get through.

So as it stands, I have finished 6.5 books out of 16.

I could be doing better but I have another six months to get cracking and plough through the remaining books. Wish me luck!

Let me know how you’re going this year, its been a tough time for everyone so taking the time to reflect on what we have accomplished it a good way to spend some positive time.

My 2020 TBR Pile

This post was meant to go up in February but kept getting shuffled along, so hello April! Despite how much I have challenged myself this year, with my 12 Tropes of 2020 Challenge, Hopeful Reads of 2020, and other various things I want to get done in 2020, I still keep finding more books I want to read πŸ˜…

My trouble is not only that I see a book and want to read it but I do this and then forget about the book 😱 So the below are some of the books that I have either recently remembered that I want to read or they are ones I keep promising myself that I’ll get around to one day.

Kill the Farm Boy
by Delilah S. Dawson and Kevin Hearne

I borrowed this book from the library when it had just been released and never got around to reading it. I am quite ashamed of this as it looks like a book that I would love! Fantasy and humour are books that I absolutely adore.

My Hopeful Reads of 2020

Due largely to my enjoying the graphic, rather than my ‘success’ of last year – I will be attempting again my Hopeful Reads of 2020 reading challenge.

Referring to the below image, this will be on display in a sidebar widget of my blog for the entirety of 2020. The books featured are ones that I want to hopefully read by the end of 2020, thus the ‘Hopeful reads of 2020’ title.

The books that are featured are potentially ones that:

  • are designated reads in my 2020 Goals
  • potential Book Bingo selections
  • have been recommended to me
  • have caught my eye
  • are books that have remained from last year
  • or simply are ones I want to read.

See any books in there that you want to know more about? Do you want a similar template for your blog? Leave a comment and let me know 😊

Rundown of My Hopeful Reads of 2019

Since I started my Hopeful Reads of 2019 half way through the year, I am going to forgive myself for not really getting through many of my selected reads πŸ˜…

The image which has been on display in a sidebar widget of my blog, saw me complete a grand total of 6 out of the 16 total books. One of these books was something that while I technically finished, decided to mark as Did not finish as I really disliked the book.

There are still a few on there that I want to read and will be transferring across onto my 2020 graphic but there are also some that I may abandon. The Lily & the Crown is a book I still want to read but I can be honest with myself in 2020 and get rid of the the first Lioness book, Alanna as I doubt I’ll be getting to that series anytime soon.

I really enjoy looking at the graphic and so I am planning on continuing with this easy and passive reading challenge in 2020. Keep an eye out later in the week for my updated graphic for my Hopeful Reads of 2020.

My Hopeful Reads of 2019

Okay so I know I have my 2019 Goals and my Book Bingo challenge but I have so many other books I want to read and they’re ones that probably won’t feature in these challenges.

So I decided I’d make a quick image to display in a sidebar widget of my blog. The books featured are ones that I want to hopefully read by the end of 2019, thus the ‘Hopeful reads of 2019’ title.

The books that are featured are ones that:

Keep an eye out on my blog for the graphic which I will be updating as I read the books 😊

My TBR Pile

It’s April and I’m already falling behind in my reading goals πŸ˜…

My trouble at the moment is that I keep re-reading and picking up fluffy books that don’t count towards my Reading Challenges (fan fiction I am looking at you). I’m also struggling a little bit with picking books that fit challenges and then sticking to these books.

I may also have a few books that I need to read and review but for a multitude of reasons am dragging my heels. I thought that by popping them all into a post, it may prompt me to actually pick up the books and get them read 😊
