This post was meant to go up in February but kept getting shuffled along, so hello April! Despite how much I have challenged myself this year, with my 12 Tropes of 2020 Challenge, Hopeful Reads of 2020, and other various things I want to get done in 2020, I still keep finding more books I want to read 😅
My trouble is not only that I see a book and want to read it but I do this and then forget about the book 😱 So the below are some of the books that I have either recently remembered that I want to read or they are ones I keep promising myself that I’ll get around to one day.
Kill the Farm Boy
by Delilah S. Dawson and Kevin Hearne
I borrowed this book from the library when it had just been released and never got around to reading it. I am quite ashamed of this as it looks like a book that I would love! Fantasy and humour are books that I absolutely adore.
I had forgotten about this book until I saw the second and third book in The Tales of Pell series! Each book looks to be so entertaining that I really need to get around to reading the first book!
A Boy Called Cin
by Cecil Wilde
Every time I see this book cover, I am immediately reminded about how I keep saying I will read it. The blurb of the book really grabs my attention and I really love reading #ownvoice books. Not only this, but the author is Australian, so I have double the incentive to read this gem.
Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency
by Douglas Adams
Okay so I watched the BBC/Netflix series in 2019 and loved it! I am really intrigued about how the book measures up against the TV show – I have read Adams’ Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy series and I am always quite critical of adaptations of this work – so I really am interested in how Adams portrays the characters I fell in love with.
In a previous post, I confessed that I don’t read unfinished series. Mainly as I dislike how much re-reading I have to do for each new book release as well as how I hate cliffhangers and having to wait for the conclusion of books.
The below are two book series that have recently finished, that I now have no excuse not to read.
by Marissa Meyer
Even though I haven’t finished reading Meyer’s first series The Lunar Chronicles (don’t judge me, I have a lot of re-reading to do to tackle that series) I have been hanging out to read her new series Renegades. I have a big weakness for superheroes and even more so when the line between hero and villain is blurred.
I do hope Supanova is the last book of the series, I have heard some grumblings about an epilogue that raises some questions so I hope that when I get to reading this series, it will have been confirmed about whether it is truly the last book in the series.
The Folk of the Air Series
by Holly Black
I’ve always been a fan of Holly Black since reading her in High School and especially in 2018 when her stand alone book The Darkest Part of the Forest was one of my top reads of that year. Ideally I do want to read her Modern Faerie Tales series before starting this one so hopefully the conclusion of this series will jump start me into action with finally reading Tithe.
I have a lot of other books that are on my TBR list but the ones above are the ones I feel breathing down my neck. What does your TBR list look like?
