My Thoughts: When I first saw the thumbnail appear on my recommended show for Netflix, I was intrigued. After watching the trailer for the show, I knew I had to watch the show…

Which I did…

Straight away.

I’m not going to lie to you, I devoured this show within three days. Sure I had other things to watch (so many things, I have over 100 things on My List) but Aggretsuko spoke to me. It was a quick and easy watch though, for as of writing this, the show only has 10 episodes.

I really enjoyed the show, the character of Retsuko leapt out and spoke to me. Which you know, says a whole lot about where I am emotionally at the moment 😛

From start to finish, the story of Aggretsuko is one that had me both aching in sympathetic corporate pain and happiness. The emotional journey of Retsuko was one that I enjoyed, it was a refreshing take on the normal office shows you see, and while an incredibly depressing example of a desk job, had an optimistic take home message of sticking with things and staying hopeful.

Best Bits: Retsuko. There is just something inherently pleasing about Retsuko, seeing her deal with all the shitty stuff in her job with a smile, only to unload all this rage through karaoke. It really is a beautiful thing to watch.

There was some emotional catharsis for me with this show. Restuko says in the trailer that there are thousands of girls working in office jobs like hers, and truly it was nice seeing her problems and workplace laid open so honestly. It’s not very often you see attention paid to people who go to work everyday and smile through all the bullshit. So it was so nice to see the seething rage of Retsuko. Made me feel just a bit justified in my hatred of past work 😛

Recommendations: Do you have a thank corporate job? Do you feel overworked and underwhelmed? Would you give anything to not go into work again?

Well maybe you should give Aggretsuko a watch and find a healthy coping mechanism.
