There are far too many things in the world that catch my eye and enjoy to write a post about each of them. So here I offer you the first in a (hopefully) monthly post that offers you a small snippet of a few things that I have enjoyed and want to share. I hope you read and enjoy.
Veep
The HBO comedy, Veep, now in its third season is a lovely surprise. The show follows the life of Selina Meyer (Julia Louis-Dreyfus), the (fictional) Vice President of the United States and the events surrounding her staff and career.
The humour and wit of the writing coupled with the outstanding performances of Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Tony Hale (a favourite of mine), make Veep a pleasure to watch. I have only just finished the second season of the show and look forward to following the continued career of the lady Vice-President.
I would wholeheartedly recommend this show to anyone who likes an involved story mixed in with some political intrigue and laughs. Also fans of BBC’s The Thick of It could find themselves enjoying the toned down similarities of Veep.
Paloma Faith
The lovely lady Paolma Faith, and her new album A Perfect Contradiction, proves to be a sultry mix of bassy beats and sassy lyrics. Songs such as ‘Can’t Rely on You,’ ‘Take Me,’ ‘Only Love Can Hurt Like This’ are stand outs on the album.
The songs featured on the album vary nicely, offering a variety of beats and melodies, but throughout it all is an underlying uniqueness. Similar to Amy Winehouse and Duffy, the British born Paloma Faith has a stunning voice that is displayed in this marvelous album.
Glasshouse Candles
Don’t be put off by the price tag, Glasshouse Candles are worth it. My recent purchase, or should I say splurge on the $40 candle is one that has dispelled any misgivings I had at paying such a price for a piece wax. The rich scent of the vanilla caramel candle (known as Tahaa), lingers pleasantly in the air long after the candle is extinguished. Lasting for up to 70-80 hours for 350g, the candle not only smells great but is also good value for money. I know I am eyeing off the Chicago or Fudge Brownie, for when my Tahaa finishes.
Love Paloma Faith, especially the Mouth to Mouth song. Though Only Love can Hurt Like This is getting overplayed on the radio.
